Argyll and Bute MSP Michael Russell has expressed his delight following the news that 7 local community organisations will receive a share of £20,780 from the big lottery fund.
The groups receiving funding are Mull and Iona Community Trust, Lismore Community Trust, Isle of Kerrera Development Trust, Isle of Luing Community Trust, Islay and Jura Youth Action, Kilfinan Community Forest company and Tobermory Playpark. Each organisation has received a grant between £1000 and £5000 and have been asked to organise events or activities that would bring people together and celebrate what makes their local communities special.
Commenting on the funding local MSP Michael Russell said:
“I congratulate all those who have succeeded in their applications. These projects will provide much needed activity in a variety of communities where small amounts of money go big distances. Celebration is the theme of these grants and I am sure each area will be celebrating today and preparing for an even better celebration in keeping with their plans which now have significant lottery support.”
