Argyll and Bute MSP Michael Russell has today welcomed the news that following community consultation BEAR Scotland have scrapped plans for daytime closures of the A828.
Proposals would have left the main road closed during working hours and local residents having to make an extensive and time consuming detour. The timing of this work was also during the tourist season which could have had a damaging effect on the local economy.
Commenting on this Mr Russell has said:
“This is a win for the community and indeed for common sense. I look forward to discussing this matter with local people and with Transport Scotland during the winter to find a better solution for further work next year.”
Details on the new schedule for improvements on the A828 and on the consultation process can be accessed via BEAR Scotland.
